In diesem Blogartikel stelle ich euch Holzminden erstmal vor. Holzminden ist eine Kreisstadt, die in Südniedersachsen liegt. Das sagt euch immer noch nichts? Die kleine Stadt befindet sich zwischen den größeren und eher bekannten Städten Hannover, Paderborn und Göttingen. Vielleicht könnt ihr Holzminden jetzt besser einordnen. Holzminden liegt also in der Mitte von den drei Städten. Zu jeder Stadt benötigt man mit dem Auto mindestens eine Stunde, da wir sehr ländlich wohnen und nur an die Bundesstraßen 64 und 83 angebunden sind. Auf den Strecken durchquert man viele Dörfer und Täler sowie Wald und Wiesen. Wer nicht mit dem Auto fahren möchte, kann vom Bahnhof mit der NordWestBahn nach Kreiensen und Paderborn fahren.

Holzminden liegt im Herzen des Weserberglands und wird vom Solling umgeben. Die Weser fließt an der Stadt vorbei und ist Treffpunkt für jede Generation. Die Weserpromenade bietet verschiedene Sitzgelegenheiten und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Viele Radfahrer tummeln sich hier, denn der ausgzeichnete Weserradweg führt durch Holzminden. Neben den Radfahrern treffen viele Kanu-Fahrer und Ruderer auf der Weser zusammen. Der Weserkai und die Wiesen laden bei wärmeren Temperaturen zum Picknicken und Chillen ein. Durch den Fluss sind die Bundesländer Niedersachsen und Nordrhein-Westfalen getrennt. Die Weser fungiert sozusagen als Landesgrenze, denn einmal über die Weserbrücke gefahren, befindet man sich schon in Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Direkt an der Weser befindet sich der Getreidespeicher. Das Silo mit 14 Stöcken ist zwischen 1939 und 1941 erbaut worden. Bis heute ist es das höchste Gebäude von Holzminden und erfüllt nach Angaben von Antenne Niedersachsen eine wichtige Funktion für den Mobilfunk. Auf dem Dach ist ein Sendemast installiert. Ebenfalls dient das Gebäude als Leinwand für Grafiti und als Fotospot. Viele Jugendliche treffen sich dort zum Abhängen. 

Zum Durchatmen lädt der Park an den Teichanlagen ein. Der Park ist aufgeteilt in den unteren, mittleren und oberen Teich. Bei der Auswahl an vielen Bänken kann man aus verschiedenen Perspektiven auf die Teiche schauen. Die grüne Oase ist ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Jung und Alt sowie eine Abkürzung auf dem Weg in die Innenstadt. Spaziergänger können in weniger als einer halben Stunden den Park umrunden.

Weiterhin ist Holzminden für das Glockenspiel am Reichspräsidentenhaus bekannt. Nach Angaben von Antenne Niedersachsen wird damit die Nachstellung des „Meisterumzugs“ der Absolventen der Hochschule dargestellt. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurde in Holzminden die älteste Baugewerkschule gegründet. Diese wurde von der HAWK – Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaft und Kunst übernommen. Bis heute können Studiengänge im Bereich Bauen studiert werden.

Gegen 09:00, 12:00, 15:00 und 18:00 Uhr drehen die Absolventen im weißen Kittel ihre Runde im Glockenspiel. Schaut doch mal zu den Uhrzeiten vorbei und werft einen Blick nach oben.

„Holzminden – Stadt der Düfte und Aromen“. Diesen Titel trägt die Stadt bis heute aufgrund der historischen Entwicklung von Düften, Geschmacks- und Aromastoffen. Viele Parfüms werden in Holzminden hergestellt. 1874 entdeckten der Chemiker Dr. Wilhelm Haarmann und Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Tiemann erstmalig die Synthese von „Vanillin“. Vanillin ist die synthetische Herstellung von Vanille. Auch heute liegt noch der Geruch von verschiedenen Aromen und Geschmacksstoffen in der Luft und errinnert einen sofort an Holzminden. Das Unternehmen „Symrise“ ist nach Antenne Niedersachsen der weltweit zweitgrößte Anbieter von Duft- und Geschmacksstoffen für Zahnpasta, Chips, Cremes und co 

Und was hat es mit der Nase auf sich? Die Nase am Haarmannplatz ist neben dem Symbol für Holzminden als Stadt der Düfte und Aromen ein beliebter Verabredungspunkt. Wenn man sich verabredet heißt es häufig: „Treffen wir uns an der Nase?“

Ein weiteres Highlight ist das Straßentheater, welches alle zwei Jahre an Pfingsten stattfindet. Künstler aus aller Welt kommen nach Holzminden und zeigen ihre talentierte Leidenschaft. Aber mehr dazu gibt es in den nächsten Wochen. Seid gespannt auf einen gesonderten Blogbeitrag!
